Fresh & Clean

A clean, safe home again, without judgment

Fresh & Clean team in protective equipment during an unsanitary home cleaning in Montreal

Sometimes a home falls behind, and it happens to good people. Whether it follows a health crisis, a loss of mobility, a bereavement, or simply a period too hard to keep up with, we never judge the situation we find when we arrive. That ranges from walls and ceilings yellowed by years of nicotine or smoke to heavy waste buildup, we're equipped for the heaviest cases, not just a cleaning that fell behind schedule. Our team works with discretion and respect to bring the space back to a clean, safe condition, at your pace and around your needs. Whether you are the person living there, a family member, or a professional reaching out on someone's behalf, we are here to support you from the first call to the last detail.

What our intervention covers

  • Safe removal of waste and accumulated clutter
  • Full disinfection of surfaces, bathroom and kitchen
  • Cleaning of walls and ceilings stained by nicotine or smoke
  • Odor control and air sanitation
  • Respectful sorting of belongings to keep, donate or discard
  • Deep cleaning from floor to ceiling
  • Coordination with family, CLSC social workers or the landlord, if you want us to

Our approach, at your pace

  1. 1A calm, judgment free first call. We always start with a phone conversation, no pressure. You share the situation in your own words, without needing to justify or explain everything right away.
  2. 2An in person visit or the work itself, when you're ready. A member of our team comes to see the space and assess the scope of the job, or begins the work directly if you are ready to move forward. We adapt the pace to what feels right for you, whether you want to be present for every step or simply receive an update once it's done.
  3. 3Follow up and peace of mind. Once the cleaning is complete, we make sure the space meets what you needed and stay available if a question or adjustment comes up. The goal is for you to feel supported until the very end.

What affects the estimate

Every intervention is different, so the estimate takes several elements specific to your situation into account. The extent of the buildup or unsanitary condition weighs into it, as does access to the space, for example a unit several floors up with no elevator takes more time than a ground floor space. The time needed to sort through personal belongings with discretion adds to it too, especially when it touches sentimental items or sensitive documents, as does coordinating with family, a CLSC caseworker, or a landlord when more than one person is involved. In some situations, a home insurance policy can cover part of the cost, so it's worth raising with us on that first call.

Who reaches out to us

It is often a family member trying to help someone they love through a hard time, a social worker or CLSC case manager supporting a vulnerable person, or a landlord who needs a unit brought back to a livable state before re renting it. However you reach us, we treat every situation with the same care and respect. We also often work alongside a real estate transaction or a change of lease, when time is tight but the situation still deserves to be handled with care.

Frequently asked questions

Will your visit be discreet?

Yes. We never discuss your situation outside of the service itself, and we adapt our approach to protect your privacy and the privacy of the person involved.

How do I even start this conversation?

You do not need to have all the answers before you call. Describe the situation in your own words, even in general terms, and we will guide you through the next steps. There is nothing to explain or justify.

Can you work with a CLSC worker or a landlord?

Yes, often. We can coordinate directly with a social worker, a family member or a landlord to plan the intervention, arrange access to the unit and agree on a realistic timeline.

Can you clean walls and ceilings yellowed by nicotine?

Yes, it's a case we handle regularly. Nicotine and smoke residue builds into paint and ceilings over time, and it needs a deeper cleaning process than a regular clean. We assess the extent of it with you before the visit.

How long does the cleaning take?

It depends on the scope of the situation, some cleanings are done in a single day, others need several visits spread over a week or two. We give you a realistic timeline right after the assessment, and adjust if new needs come up along the way.

What happens to personal belongings?

Nothing gets thrown out without discussing it together first. We set aside anything that looks sentimental or important, and you, or the person affected, decide what stays, what goes, and what gets donated or recycled.
